Refurbishment

CycloPlasma:
a new method for remediating wood contaminated with harmful substances

The CycloPlasma method was developed together with Fraunhofer Institute IBP for the remediation of contaminated wood. The restoration decontaminates and/or fixes the pollutants in the wood.

Part 1: Immediate action – improving air quality

  • Reducing the concentration of pollutants in the indoor air to below guideline value II.
  • Enabling the use of contaminated buildings through indoor air purification until remediation.
  • Ensuring occupational health and safety during remediation

Part 2: Refurbishment – CycloPlasma method

Preparation

  • Removal of old layers of paint (decontamination), application of “wood peeling” if necessary.
  • Cleaning and preparation of the wood surfaces.
  • Determination of the formulation for active substances

Fixing the pollutants with CycloPlasma active substances.

The formulation is developed specifically for the object as part of the concept development. The contaminants are immobilized by the active substances.

The restoration formulation is produced by RESA for the specific object.

Decontamination of the CycloPlasma active substances from the wood surfaces.

Part 3: Success Monitoring

Double determination of the indoor air concentration PCP/Lindane before and after remediation.
Scientific monitoring by the Fraunhofer IBP.
Preservation of the original structure and appearance.

Several projects are already in progress in which the effectiveness has been confirmed:

Marstall, Nymphenburg

RESA analyzes your situation on site, adapts the CycloPlasma method to your circumstances, organizes the implementation, supplies the necessary chemicals and accompanies the specialists on site. Scientific support is provided by the Fraunhofer Institute.

Wood peeling

In the restoration sector, wood is often cleaned before decontamination. To significantly increase the effectiveness of this process, RESA has developed Wood Peeling, which is sold exclusively by RESA.

The wood peeling gently decontaminates and cleans the contaminated areas. The CycloPlasma method can then be used to completely clean the wood and remove unwanted pollutants.
